As a Principal, the scope of Michael’s work includes valuation analyses and advisory for transaction opinions that include fairness opinions, solvency opinions, and purchase price allocations. Michael has considerable experience working with both public and private companies on financial reporting engagements related to fair value opinions for impairment testing for goodwill and intangible assets, employee share-based arrangements, and derivative securities. Additionally, his experience includes fair market value opinions relating to business and partnership interests in matters relating to gift and estate tax matters, equity or reasonable compensation, debt-to-equity conversions, and related party transfers. Michael has performed valuation and transaction advisory engagements for a wide range of industries, including automotive, business services, energy, financial services, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, wholesale distribution, and various technologies.
For over a decade, Michael has assisted in commercial litigation engagements in a variety of venues, including Federal and state district courts, United States Tax Court, and arbitration panels of FINRA and the American Arbitration Association. He routinely works in a litigation support role as an expert witness concerning disputes related to business valuation, security issues, tax matters, marital dissolution, lost profits, and economic damages.
Michael joined VALUE in 2006 upon entering the world of financial consulting. Prior to joining VALUE, Michael worked as an account executive for Ralph Lauren. Upon graduation from college, he worked as a Class A PGA golf professional managing retail operations at both Oakmont Country Club and Seminole Golf Club, two of America’s premier private golf clubs.
Michael holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Dallas/Fort Worth. He earned an MBA from Texas Christian University and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Marketing and Recreation and Park Management from Penn State University. Michael is an active member of several local and national professional organizations including Business Navigators, Dallas Estate Planning Council, and Turnaround Management Association.
Michael was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, and despite having lived in the Metroplex for over 15 years, he still holds deep allegiances to Pittsburgh sports teams. In addition to his professional activities, Michael serves on the Advisory Board for Impossible Possibilities; a nonprofit organization striving to improve educational opportunities for local students. Michael resides in Keller, and when he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Amy and watching his boys play hockey, lacrosse, basketball, and soccer.
